Yes, I use Palm Oil in my soaps

I am frequently asked whether I use palm oil in my soaps, so I thought it made sense to address this question here in my blog. Transparent business practices are important to me, so I want anyone interested in purchasing my soaps to not only know whether or not  I use palm oil, but more importantly, why I continue to use it when so many have given it up on principle.

For those not aware of the problem, recklessly harvesting the trees for palm oil over the years has caused deforestation and the destruction of habitats. However, there are sensible, sustainable ways to harvest it, and we consumers have to do our part to make sure we support these more responsible methods. We can do this by committing to solely obtain our supplies from reputable companies who have a policy to buy only from members of the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil). As to why I want to continue using palm oil: it adds a nice, creamy lather and helps create a hard bar of soap, which extends the life of the soap.

I buy almost all of my supplies from one supplier, Wholesale Supplies Plus, Inc. because their products are high-quality, reasonably priced, and their philosophies align with mine. Here is a quote from their website regarding the palm oil they carry:

“Our palm oil comes strictly from members of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). RSPO certification requires producers to follow strict standards to cultivate sustainable palm oil. RSPO criteria states, “no primary forests or areas which contain significant concentrations of biodiversity (e.g. endangered species) or fragile ecosystems, or areas which are fundamental to meeting basic or traditional cultural needs of local communities (high conservation value areas), can be cleared.” Additionally there are standards that require fair treatment of workers according to local and international labor rights standards. “

Love Your Face

Here at KittenSoft Face and Body Care, we love taking care of faces. I, personally, enjoy making high quality, affordable products that are good for the skin. Like my previous article mentioned, there are so many products on the market with such excessively high prices that a person could go broke just trying  to keep up with routine cleaning and moisturizing – let alone pampering themselves a little along the way!

We had an order come in for one of our most popular items (and one that I particularly love to make), and that made me think again about how fortunate I am that I am in a position that I don’t have to squeeze every ounce of profit I can from my business, and that I can offer these products at a reasonable price.

We carry several facial products that are under $20 and are made with all natural ingredients. There are cleansers and toners, and moisturizers. And remember – all products can be customized to your individualized taste by simply emailing to custom@knittinswithkittens.com.
